Belagavi (Ramdurg), March.15; As many as 5.61 lakh farmers of Belagavi have received Rs 1130 crore under the PM Samman scheme, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking at the conference of the beneficiaries of the state and union government schemes, distribution of title deeds, and other programs at Batkurki village in Ramdurg taluk on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big help to Karnataka by providing piped water to 12 lakh households across the country in three years of which 40 lakh houses in Karnataka. Another 25 lakh houses will be provided piped water this year. In Belagvi, 6.57 lakh houses have been provided with a tap connection. During floods two years ago, Rs 5 lakh had been provided to those who lost houses. The then CM B.S.Yediyurappa liberally distributed the compensation to the affected families.
Rupees 125 crore for protection wall
The CM said work has started to build a protection wall on the bank of River Malaprabha due to the erosion for Rs 125 crore. This was decided within one year of the flood havoc. Quick response is the motto of the government under the new dispensation. The crop subsidy has been doubled by the state government and paid Rs 13600 per acre in dry farming; for irrigated land Rs 25,000 as against Rs 12500 given by the Government of India. No government in the past had given that many crop subsidies. Relief had been released to the affected farmers within two months after the crop loss.
Relief for damaged houses
Bommai said Rs 200 crore has been officially released for 7,000 to 8000 houses that did not receive the compensation, and 7768 houses are given additional relief. Helping people in days of difficulties shows the sensitivity of the incumbent government. As many as 12370 children have availed of the Raitha Nidhi scheme.
